Split wedge for gate valve 2

my clint requires gate valve with split wedge, but i could not find any reputed manufacturer manufacturering plit wedge, they all are manufacturing flexible wedge. Can any one guide me whether any reputed manufacturer is manufacturing split wedge.

Split wedge and Flexible wedge sound like the same thing.

The flexible wedge type is just that- flexible. By the addition of a groove or slot around its periphery, the flexible disc can adapt to temperature changes and adverse piping stresses without binding. The flexible design also is a little easier to manufacture, in that minor imperfections in the seating surface angles can be compensated for by the disc’s flexibility. The “flex-wedge” design is by far the most common type seen on commodity gate valves used in industrial applications.

The split wedge type consists of a two-piece design with mating surfaces on the back side of each disc half. These mating surfaces allow the downward stem thrust to be uniformly transferred to the disc faces and onto the seats. This flexible design also provides protection against jamming due to thermal expansion. A disadvantage to the split design is that in “dirty” services, residue or debris can cake in between the disc halves, causing the valve to improperly seat or even jam. Split wedge designs are commonly found on stainless steel and high alloy valves, as well as many small bronze valves.

Are you by any chance referring e.g. to formerly common "double-disc(k)" gate valves, where the discs are spread apart against trimmed body seats (e.g. iron body brass mounted) by wedges actuated by the valve stem, as opposed to resilient or compression resilient seat gate valves that e.g. at least in common water and wastewater services are indeed now more common? While I would suspect somee double disc valves might still be avaialble somewhere for at least some services in some sizes, I am curious why the double-disc valves are wanted?

I would tell your client they need to move with the times. There is next to no good reason to go with split wedge gates and forcing the spec will severely limit both their option and increase their cost.

Flex Wedge offers thermal compensation almost as well as split wedge, and most manufactures make their gates with it. (I know my company provided plenty for steam service/cyclical thermal cycle etc)
