I am mounting a radio transmitter high on a pole. There are a lot (hundreds) of screws inside that all have to be done up by hand, they are also expensive and fiddly due to their small size.
It has been suggested to me that split washers will be required due to the pole vibrating.
Does anyone know how much a pole vibrates and/or if split washers will be necessary.
They seem to be over kill to me...

I would expect the pole to vibrate at a fairly low frequency due to its length and stiffness (steel, 30 ft long assumed). That should not create a problem with the transmitter. However you did say that the screws are expensive and fiddly due to their small size. Adding a split washer as insurance to make sure that you don't have to do it again seems like a small price to me. C. Hugh (
