I have an excel file that contains x,y coordinate values. Is there anyway to generate a spline and define its nodes by importing a table from excel into solidworks?

Yes!

SW04

1) Start a new part
2) Insert\Curve\Curve through XYZ points (SW03 - Insert\Curve\Curve through free points)
3) Go to Excel and remove all headers - Just have the first callout for XYZ on the first row.
4) Save the file as a *.txt file.
5) There is a known bug in SW04. You have to open the file up in Notepad and re-save it as a *txt file. (Don't know what SP will fix this problem)
6) Click back to SW and click on the Browse button
7) Under files of type click on *.txt
8) Find the file and click open

It should auto populate if you have the sheet set up right. See the help on "Curve through XYZ points" It explains it there too.

......and it is in the Help if you look for it. BTW: The "bug" is related to saving the file as true plain ASCII text. Notepad always will do this correctly. Same reason it's best to open many system type data file with it.

I was - and he did. So at least I didn't get coal.....
