I have a 3-ton hoist on an S12x50 that runs for over 150' and need to splice the beam. I imagine there is some sort of tight tolerance I should follow between the ends of the beams, but I can't seem to find any guidance. Just looking for common splice details or examples...

Thanks, robyengIT - I saw that one. In my case, I have a relatively lightly loaded (1 ton is the rating that will be painted on the beam, and is the size of the only item this hoist can possibly pick up), underhung 4-wheeled trolley with cycles being less than 500 over its 20 year life.
