Just stick the individual contacts into the UUT's connector by hand. Use heatshrink tubing on the individual contacts to reduce risk of short circuits. Mandate that an engineer must be responsible to confirm correct connection before applying power.
This is really common, due to schedule pressures. Just need to recognize the obvious risk of miswire, and apply caution.
Be extra careful of live power supply on sockets, although the heat shrink can cover them nearly completely.
