Hi,

I am having a problem with cavitation and to much sound from an orifice in a seawater system.
I am looking for a program, an excel-sheet or a company that can calculate this. Any ideas aynone?

I have spent some time searching and come up with nothing so any help would be highly appreciated.

You probably have critical pressure drop. Just a guess since you didn't give us any information.

Try taking the drop in several steps each of which is above critical pressure drop, or use a control valve with trim designed to do just that.

Thanks for your response rmw.

You are right,, we do have a relatively high pressure drop.
I guess I should have provided more info to make my question more interesting.
As I have left work for the weekend I will just have to take the numbers as I remember them;
the pipe is 10", normal flow 690m3/h, pressure drop over orifice 4,6 barg and the orifice is a multi-bore with a total bore of 9850mm².
The noice was meassured to 108db.

The reason we want to calculate the sound is that we want the posibillity to calculate the bore with an acceptable noice level.
Then we can see if it is possible to put the rest of the wanted pressure drop over some of the valves.
