Hello,
On the lateral analysis reports of rotating machines we often come across of the Sommerfield number. What is the practical implication of this number? I believe a higher number (since it is in simulated conditions) shows that there is more thicker of a hydrodynamic oil film. But I am not excatly sure on how one can use the sommerfield number to make any practical predictions about the rotating machine.

Thank You
