Solidworks to Solid Edge

Can Solid Edge open Solidworks files or do I have to convert the files to a .sat, .step, .igs to open in Solid Edge?

SE user stand point - If you click File\open and change the files of type - do you see SW in there? If not, then yes you will need to convert them.

SW user stand point - If your doing this for a customer you should ask them if SE opens SW files. with the same process above.

You could try contact SE and asking them directly too -
I know that probably wasn't alot of help...

No, SE does not open SW files directly. Parasolid is the best.
