Hi There

Is it possible to buy a licence of SWX in an auction or otherwise from somebody who wants to sell it? I asked this question because Licence agreement says it is a Non-Transferable licence.

Thanks

So if I buy a million dollars of SW seats my company's valuation drops by a million dollars, as I have exchanged fungible cash for non fungible licenses?

Well, there's a marketing opportunity. Either a competing CAD company sells fungible seats, or a third party buys seats and hires them out.

The fact this hasn't happened to date is interesting, but the current system looks like a stuffed business model to me.

Cheers

There's one more thing in the mix besides copyright. If the program uses any patented technology (no matter how lame or nonfunctional), then it can licensed. All the fair use and first sale doctrine debate in the world can't get around the patent licensing.

Gurjjett,

Unless you have very very deep pockets to challenge the license scheme I suggest you forget it.
