Solidworks Explorer property search

In SW Explorer 2006 and earlier I used the Property Search command alot. Maybe its me but I'm missing that command in SW2007. I have not installed the Microsoft Desktop Search yet, is that why I don't get the Property Search?

Mncad,
I never knew we could search properties in SolidWorks. What was the command?

It wasn't in SW, it was in SW Explorer. Under Tools, then Property Search. You could put in any property you had filled out in files and search whole drives or folders for them.

Hello mncad,

All you need to do is type the following in the SolidWorks search:

<keyword or custom property>: <value>

e.g. revision: A

Hope this helps. BTW when you install SolidWorks, I believe it also installs Microsoft Desktop. However the search currently does not work with 64 bit machines.

With SW07 explorer before you can search your files you need the Windows desktop search. Because you have to index your files for searching. You can't do that without the WDS.
