My firm is looking at a project which would require sophisticated 3D modeling / FEM analysis to be conducted. We are looking at the latest version of SolidWorks Simulation Premium (capable of performing static load / temperature analysis) for a cost of approximately $10k-$12k. To justify this initial cost, we would require more work using this product in the future.
I am interested in other's experience using such 3D modeling software (SolidWorks specifically, but others also generally), what type of services / work firms are able to offer, and what kind of rates they are able to attract.
