Solidworks and MathCAD

Has anyone tried this integration yet.
(Need SW2005 and MathCad 12.1)

I have started to play with some of the examples that came with the download, and the integration seems to work nicely. I can see a lot of potential for this.

I am having trouble getting it to work on parts I have created. When I create a part and insert it as a component in MathCad I cant seem to get the script to command the SW model at all.

If anyone has figured this out yet or if anyone experiencing the same problems let me know.

Probably some setting I'm missing.

I'm not at all familiar with Mathcad & I apologize if I've misinterpreted your statement, but from what I glean from the website, (

I don't believe it can do what what you're trying to do.
It mentions nothing about being able to manipulate a solid models geometry. Is that what you are trying to do? Is that what Mathcad claims it can do?

Thats exactly what it does, or is intended to do.

The solidworks model sits in the MathCad sheet and will update as you change variables associated with the model.
You can double click on the model in the MathCad worksheet and editable solidworks opens in the worksheet.
(Think of editing an excel table in word or soliworks.)

The regular website doesn't mention anything about it because it is something that was just released as a feature to the software.
MathCad and Solidworks have partnered so to speak.

For those doing very complex calculations, or even simple ones that want to see the formulas on a page, as one would write them on a piece of paper, this will be a major upgrade in computing power for SolidWorks for calculation driven models.

3D plots/graphs turned directly in to a solid model for prototyping. A great addition to SW.

I missed the webinar they had recently on this subject and unfortunately, if MathCad 12.1 is required, I'll be out in the cold for a while. (currently still using 2003 (v11))

By the way the reverse process is also possible with a commercial solidworks plugin

This allow for the Mathcad functionality from within Solidworks.

However, I believe MathCad 12.1 is still required.

Or is this with the MathInWorks addin?

Or do you insert an object in Mathcad or SolidWorks?

Could you clarify. I'm interested in combining the two also.

If you have MathCad V12.1 and solidworks 2005,
You can download several files from the mathcad website
that allows you to insert into a MathCad document a Solidworks object.

What you get is a window inserted into the document where you can see your model.

There example is pretty simple but in use I think this could be pretty powerful.
They show a wheel with lug holes and a central hole.
As you change the mathcad values for lug diameter or wheel diameter etc. the solidworks incorporated model updates in real time to display the changes.

If you double click the model graphic, solidworks is loaded inside mathcad and you can make other changes to your model via solidworks. Click somewhere else on the mathcad worksheet and the mathcad document is active again.

I have tried to use my own models but have had trouble getting the object script to link to solidworks as they have done.

I have seen the MathInWorks, but what I describe above doesn't happen from within SW it happens from witin MathCad and is a free add-on from MathCad.
