Anyone using FreeCad9 to do motion analysis?
software is at
If so have you been able to import Solidwork assemblies?

The example models used to demo the software are
solidworks "asm" (not sldasm) files, but when I try creating my own "asm" file the software doesn't recognize it.

I suspect its because the software is old and the "asm" files created by solidworks now (2008) are different than they used to be.

Just looking at the website, it doesn't look like freeCAD is compatible with SolidWorks files. The sample files (.asm) are NOT SolidWorks files and cannot be opened in SolidWorks. You will have to re-model everything in freeCAD.

One work around I've found is to create 3D models via
DwgEditor.
Create model and save it out as a 2004 DXF
Free Cad is able to read the DXF.
