I've recently installed SW2006 and am having some problems. I can open assemblies and drawings with no problems. When I try to open part files that were created in a previous version the program crashes. I have opened these older files on another computer and saved them as 2006 but still they won't open. Has anyone any suggestions?

Did you turn off Anti-Virus during install?

Which service pack of SW2006 are you using? I had similar problems with some drawings in the early days of SW2006, but upgrading the service pack took care of it.

I reinstalled SW SP0.0 and the files opened ok, I then update to SP2.1 and the files still opened. When I updated to SP5.0 the files wouldn't open and the system crashed. For the time I'll leave it at SP2.1 and see how it goes. Thanks for the help

That's odd... my experience was exactly the opposite. I had trouble loading files (mainly certain drawings) early on, then the later service packs gave me enough stability to load them.

In my case, there was a specific SPR that was fixed in a later service pack directly related to my issue, plus I had a SW-recommended video card/driver. However, I agree that for bmc1974, the video card/driver are viable suspects until more is known about that system/setup.
