Hi, Dear colleagues and co-enthusiasts!

I am relatively new to Solidworks. So, apologies for my ignorance in advance.

My questions is that, I have made a surface model in Solidworks using lofted surfaces option. I want to import this into Abaqus as shell and use 3D shell elements for it. However, Abaqus only allows me to use continuum shell elements (which I have never used and not willing to try them). The surface doesn't (and shouldn't) have thickness. However, after meshing it, the elements (unlike 3D shell elements) show thickness.

I have tried to export my surface model in variety of different formats (STEP, IGS etc.) non of which seemed to work.

Any advice? Much appreciated.

Regards

First you should check in Solidworks if you geometry is a face or a solid. After import in /CAE you should check it again.
