I have a solid object (imported from a step file) with a .375" diameter cut thru. I need to remove or "plug" that hole.

When I simply "plug" the hole and UNION the 2 solids together. I can visually see where the plug is.

Is there a preferred method of removing holes? Or is there a way to remove the lines after UNION.

Any help would be appreciated !!
Thanks

im just trying to learn something maybe-
since you imported it from another (step) file, you cant just delete the hole can you?

It would be nice if it was as easy as deleting the extra line. haha

When importing "step" files from other systems. MDT 6.0 only recognizes the object as 1 solid. Therefore if you select the hole, it would delete the whole solid.

"STEP" translation is preferred for solid data..... and "IGES" is preferred for surface and wireframe. I haven't had much success with solid translations from IGES. Not sure how much experience you have with importing/exporting.

FYI. my solution to the "hole" problem, was to create surface data from the solid and untrim the surface boundry for the old hole. Then i was able to recreate the solid (from surface) and subtrated the new hole.

Lots of foot work, but at least my geometry is accurate, and looks correct now.
