Hi,

Just got Solid Edge ST, I've been playing with it for the last week and i'm just wondering,

How do create a trad part (on sync)?
All so can you make external threads in ST?

Do I have to install any other files as i seem to be missing some functions!

ps. I've included a screen dump showing that i don't seem to have the thread command, I believe it should be a drop down list from the hole command.

Thank for the help.

Cheers
Steve

For some reason the external thread command didn't make it into ST1, so no you are not missing anything.

Hi,

some function are still to come (ST2) among which is
the thread function.
To create a traditional part within ST you have to select
the appropriate template. Check Application --> Options -->
User Profile that the PullDown 'User type' shows 'Traditional
and Synchronous' otherwise only sync templates may be
available.
When a part ist started in ST-Mode you can't switch to
traditional mode you have to finish it in ST

Thanks,

Got trad going now,

Can I create some parts in st and some in trad and still have them in the one assembly without converting the trad parts to st?

Cheers
Steve

Yes traditional and sychronous parts can be used in the same assembly, but you can't use that nifty assembly editing on the traditional parts

Hi,

not quite correct:

- sync assembly: sync parts can be edit via 'Edit' but
not trad. parts you have to open them for edit
- trad. assembly: trad parts can be edit via 'Edit' but
not sync. parts you have to open them for edit
