I work in a hydraulic machine and parts manufactuer, and we are developing solenoid.

I bought some Silicon iron B-FM, and it works fine. However, the availiability is not good. Then I found out some other materials that could be used to replace B-FM (thanks for the posts!), so I bought 12L14 and 430FR. However, our engineer wants to test more materials before making any decision. Could anyone tell me if Chrome Core 8-FM or 13-FM is a good choice? Also, where can I get these materials?

Thanks a lot for the help.
