Software for Consultant company

Hi everybody!

I'm having some plans of starting a consultant company doing finite element analysis. I have some questions regarding which software to use. I have about 4 years of experience of Abaqus but as I understand it the pricing of this software is rather high (As a PhD student I mostly worked with an in house code). I'm most interested in doing highly non-linear analysis (advanced material models and so on) so a software with these capabilities would be needed. Any ideas? Moreover, do you think that a "freeware" like Calculix can do the trick? Is it good enough to be used in comersial purposes?

I'd investigate short term licenses for whatever code your customer wants. The problem with calculix is that your customer will need to be educated to accept it. What would you use for postprocessing/presentation?

About the postprocessing, Im not quite sure about that eighter... In the past I have userd Abaqus CAE, ANSA and HyerMesh and at the moment I like CAE better. Are there any other low price - high performance pre/postprocessors out there that you are aware of??
