Soft PVC tubing sectioning

I need to section some medical PVC tubing (about <5mm of diameter and <1,5mm thickness) to take measurements of its diameter and thickness, in different points of the total lenght. Does anyone have any recomendation on how to do it? I want to distort it the less posible to get an acurate measurement.

If it were me, I would use some sort of potting compound inside and outside the tube, allow it to harden, and the cut it, and polish the exposed face, and then make the measurement
