Hi

Could anyone please suggest the correct procedure to create 3d model of soccer ball with 12 pentagon and 20 hexagon in nx7.5?

Regards,
Ras Bihari

Still I am not able to create the ball, Once I assumed the side length of regular pentagon then how would we get the angle b/w normals of two adjacent polygon and the radius of sphere?

Ras Bihari

I got it.

Thanks

Soccer is my favorite sport, but I've never designed a soccer ball......
Nice thread!
Anybody involved in soccer as a player or/and coaching?

Attached is a zip file containing my solution for creating a so-called standard soccer ball. Included are a series of images which shows the steps that I took to create the model. The only really important file is the one named 'soccer_ball_solid.prt' as it's a parametric model in the sense that there is an expression named 'Diameter' which is set to 220 mm, which I understand is the size of an official competition soccer ball. But if you needed something smaller (or larger) all you need to do is enter a different value.

Here is what it looks like:

If you go back and look at the sequence of images in my ZIP file showing the approach that I used, you'll see when looking at 'Step 6' and 'Step 7' that that is basically how I did this as well:
