snowmobile track area vs machine weight/power

I have a little too much time on my hands this winter, so I thought I would build me a power-toboggan. I would like to know how to calculate the required track surface contact area for a given mass and torque combination. I suppose a friction co-efficient would also be necessary, but let's just call it minimal.
