Dear All,
I'm curremtly working in a project witch involve small sized PSV : 1/4 , 1/2, 3/4 ,3/8... inches for some injection system.

My question is about the sizing method as the required orifice is not indicated in API (verry small orifice area).

I have been told that ASME is specifiying such PSV, could you please refer me to the apporpriate codes ?

Thanks

Mouss

Hi Mouss,

I find that what you say is confusing because:

1/ Your are dealing with existing PSV but you want the method to size them.

2/ Later you talk about specifying the PSV while before you wanted to size them.

3/ You refer to ASME code but you want us to refer you to the appropriate codes?

My piece of advice would be to contact the PSV vendor(s) and ask them ALL you need to know about their instruments.

"We don't believe things because they are true, things are true because we believe them."

Perhaps small injection systems could apply to thermal relief applications etc. Check with the manufacturer sales representatives if you need code details applicable. An example is the Crosby/AGCO PSV product line with small orifice applications around 0.049-inch. Search for other examples that may exist if you are not interested in the AGCO examples.

Thanks guys for your feedback,

@sheiko :
Here some clarif to the following:
1/ Your are dealing with existing PSV but you want the method to size them.
Yes Sir, the question is to review & validate the existing one !
2/ Later you talk about specifying the PSV while before you wanted to size them.
Refer to 1/.
3/ You refer to ASME code but you want us to refer you to the appropriate codes?
Yes Sir, (I was saying that have been told that ASME...) but ASME is 1000... codes and 1000....paragraphe ! other codes may apply ?!

Thanks once again for any practical and useful info :)
