smart mates

I just started playing around with the "peg in hole" smart mate. It seems that this doesn't work if there are radiuses or chamfers on both ends of the pin. These features must be suppressed in order for the smart mate process to work. They can then be resolved and everything is fine. THis seems a bit strange to me.

When you grab the part, make sure you are grabbing an edge and dragging it to an edge. You'll still, occasionally, have difficulties though.

Nope, doesn't matter how you grab the part, the smart mate won't work if there is a radius or chamfer on both ends of the pin.

Strange. I just created a block with a chamfered hole and a chamfered pin, through them in an assembly, grabbed the top edge of the pin, alt, and moved it to the hole in the block and it worked fine.

What service pack are you running? I just tried the same thing in SP1.1 and couldn't use the PIH unless I suppressed the fillet.

Yah, it works if both the pin and hole are chamfered. It doesn't work if only the pin is chamfered. I'm on SP 2.2.

Try just grabbing the top edge of the pin chamfer. I just did it and it still works.
