Smart Dimension

Hi,

I am new in SolidWorks. My previous experience was in Solid Edge.
I have a question regarding Smart Dimension.....

Please check the attached Jpeg file with the description of my question.

Yes you can get exactly the same behaviour. It looks as though you have either redrawn the piece in SW or used feature recognition? Either way, click the hole graphically and its feature will be highlighted in the feature tree (the thing on the left) - I'd guess its one of the 2 hole wizard features at the bottom. You can then either edit the feature and edit the placement sketch and add the relevant dimension, or expand the feature and edit the placement sketch.

Note - hole wizard features tend to have two sketches 1 for the profile of the hole, 1 for the placement - you shouldnt really edit the profile one manually (instead you would change the definition of the hole)
