smaller or bigger aggregate 1

dear all,

i wonder why the air content is generally higher for a mix with smaller aggregates (say compared 14 mm and 10mm).

Air content is a function of the cement paste volume. As the aggregate size decreases, the cement paste volume must increase to cover the greater aggregate surface area.
