Anyone can share the book or example to do a sloshing damper design? We designed a steel chimney and we need to add a damper to increase the damping ratio. Any info is appreciated.
The big question is whether to go for a tuned or untuned system. If you go untuned you might find that sand or ballbearings work better.
With a tuned system you'll need to know the resonant frequencies of the chimney, where the antinodes are for each mode shape (it is most effective to mount the damper at an antidote), and of course the sloshing frequency of your design. Be careful that you don't use too much damping in the damper, this can cause it to be less effective (in practice).
