Why is it that when a co-worker emails me a solidworks assy, I can open it in Edrawings and all parts are visible, but when I open it in Solidworks, I get the message"Unable to locate the file XXXX. Do oyu want to find it yourself."?

Does a sldasm file not have individual part data in it? If not, why does it show in EDrawing?

make sure that ur co-worker is not sending the files in EASM format, which can be opened only in eDrawings...

Solidworks Assembly files contain "pointers" only and no part files. Utilize "pack and go" or "find references" when sending Assembly file and it's part files.

Solidworks Easm files are "graphic" files and only contain image data of the assembly, NOT the actual part files. Basicly it's a picture of "last saved". Detached drawings are simular to this as well.

The efiles program can open all of the above mentioned file types.

Hope this answered your question...

Good luck...
