Hi,

I'm trying to share data from an AB SLC 5/05 PLC to a Yokowaga Centum CS3000 DCS system and I'm not sure what would be the best way of doing this. what are all the possible ways that an AB SLC 500 can communicate? Is Ethernet IP the only one that it supports?.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

It also supports DF1 and/or DH485 via the serial port. What you need is a gateway or protocol converter. Prosoft makes some and also Applicon. I like the Applicon unit better.

If I'm not mistaken. SLC5/05 does have ethernet IP, but it's not true ethernet IP. It only supports message (MSG) instructions. So, the recipiant of those messages needs to be able to understand them. I haven't played with one in a while and I know some of the newer ones have updated ethernet capabilities with a web browser.

You could use rslinx as an OPC data server to the yokogawa system or wonderware

Thank you all for your help. I already got a quote from Prosoft for a Modbus communication module since I already have a Modbus module on the Yokowaga side.
