Hi All,

Hopefully this is a really simple one to answer.......

When we start a sketch (either Sketch in Task Env or Direct Sketch) the blue sketch plane indication appears when you hover on a possible item to sketch on but as soon as it's selected the blue plane disappears. I'm pretty sure this will be a default or preference setting option but for the life of me I can't find it!!

BTW we're using NX9.0

Cheers.

Hi,

It's a normal behaviour if you don't create explicity the plane before.

The Csys is inside the sketch and you can use make datums external after

Hi Didier

I may not of explained myself very well. The blue plane is not an actual datum plane, it's a display graphic to indicate where the plane you're sketching on actually is.

Here a video of a model being constructed and at 06:09 the guy selects a co-ord system plane to sketch on and the blue plane remains on screen until he finishes sketching.

Cheers,

Hi,

I understand your explanation, but he blue plane is always visible during sketching in my case also. Did you reproduce your problem with every part ?

Hi Didier,

Thanks for taking time to answer again!

The blue plane is visible when hovering over a plane to sketch on but then disappears never to be seen again when the sketch plane is selected!

It's also happening to all my colleagues here as well so I'm not sure if it's a customer default setting common to the installation here or due to the customization of NX carried out by the IT people.

It's not the end of the world but it is a bit annoying!!

Cheers

When you create the sketch
check mark the box in the Settings Bar saying

Create Intermediate Datum CSYS

"Create Intermediate Datum CSYS" Does exactly what it says, but I don't want another csys I just want the blue graphic plane to remain on screen when I'm in a sketch.

Thanks for you help a984928.

I import your part into our teamcentre based system and when I edit the two sketches in the part I do indeed get the blue graphic to indicate the sketch plane. :)

However, when I add a new sketch to the part the blue graphic disappears as before. I think this points to the defaults/preferences when creating a sketch that we have set here.

Any ideas what that default/preference might be??

Many thanks

I have a standard installation of NX10. If I create a sketch without creation an intermediate CYSC I don´t see the blue plane either. Only, if I click create intermediate CYSC I obtain that plane. I don´t think there is any preferences to change this behavior.

Airin in my nx85 installation
I see the blue datum without intermediate creation
Buf if I make the plane to be external I don't see it

Thanks for all the replies.

It looks like the blue graphical display of the sketch plane was there in NX8.5 but disappeared for NX9.0
