sizing software for air cooled HX

I am wondering what the best approach is to have a sizing program written for "my" company. I say "my" company because it will be passed to me in the future years because it is a family owned business. The company has been in operation for over 10+ years but has not had an enormous amount of effort put into it. We already have a sizing program written but it needs to be "upgraded" and developed so that it has an user-friendly interface.

We have hired a few different engineers in the past to do the work, all which have started and have never stayed long enough to finish.

Are there companies out there that do this type of work on a contractual basis?

Any suggestions on taking our current software to the next level.

I would suggest looking at a local University with an engineering program. Many times they are looking for real world projects for students to work on. I have good luck with this approach over the years.

I have given that a lot of thought and even tried to contact a few of the professors at my local univesity but have had no luck in contacting anyone. I think my next step is to go up there personally and try to speak with someone.

crjones... in your past experience have you had to "donate" or provide any type of monetary payments for the work?

A possible place to get bespoke software written is in the far east, the former USSR and India (etc), ie where labour is cheap and technology pretty high. The work done in your home country would be to specify what the program does.

However, there are numerous software packages out there, so why reinvent the wheel?
