After reviewing some installation drawings for low voltage drawout switchgear the manufacturer indicates wrapping the conductors with sisal rope to help with short circuit current movement. Has anyone done this? Dose anyone have any pictures of this type of installation. I have not seen this in the field yet and am interested to see who is doing this and if it is more common than what I think. Thanks.

Ideally the engineer of record should specify this or the person engineering the job should make that determination after a fault analysis.
But since many electrical projects are done as a design bulid with the emphasis on BUILD, in my experience, it is seldom considered, let alone completed.

This is a requirement per UL standard 891 for higher short circuit ratings. If this is a UL listed board, the manufacturer would have that in his UL listing procedure and it should be documented in the installation instructions.

Are you the same Mike that posted that in Mike Holt's forum?
If not, here is a link, it has a picture.

If you are, you should know that student postings are frowned upon here...
