Single Line Note

Okay, here's a pretty obscure one, but it would help me greatly. When placing the Single Line Note, the text orientation setting determines where the note comes in relative to the leader line. The horizontal setting is very helpful as it places a short horizontal length of leader before the text - viola, a data point saved for every note.

So, here's my question. Is there a way to adjust the length of that little horizontal leader without affecting the size of the text? I would like to make it about half the length that it is currently defaulting to.
