Is there a way in MicroStation or inRoads to get a best fit line drawn through a bunch of points (or even the points of a line string)?

example, i have a survey of a road CL and i want to get a line down the center that dosent have 500 points along it.

Thanks for the help.

dkleinot, yes in InRoads there is a tool called Horizontal Regression that will do exactly what you are looking for.
Geometry > Horizontal Regression > Add Horizontal Regression Points

You may need to add the tool if you do not see it in the Geometry pull down. Go to Tools > Applications Add-in and toggle ON "Multiple Horizontal Element Regression Analysis Add-in."
