Hi guys,

I was unsure whether to ask this question within the mechanical subsection or structural. As a structural engineer I opted for the latter.

I'm currently working on a design check on an existing feed chute for an iron ore mine. We have changed the support conditions of the chute and I was looking to do a check on the structural capacity of the chute but don't have time to run an FEA model. Is there a simplified method to do this?

I just need to ensure there is enough capacity in the plate thickness/stiffeners to carry the loads

Regards

dbest69er,

I think you'll get more useful input if you post a sketch of your situation.
