I need to design a simple pulley-system that can be operated from inside a house to raise a small hatch door in an outside chook shed (hen house). The system will need to have 2 90 deg turns. What do I need to build this?

Appears that you need 2 pulleys with L or U brackets to support the pulleys, screws to attach the brackets and a rope. Or maybe this is a trick quetion. Jesus is The TRUTH

Thanks Metman, it wasn't a trick question. I was starting to feel dyslexic trying to picture how it would have to be set up.

Another approach would be to use small (say 3/8") pvc pipe and run 3/16" 7x19 aircraft cable through it, similar to an accelerator cable. Use a torch or heat gun to form large (4" or more) radii and join the pipe sections with couplings and pvc cement. You will need to support the pipe at regular intervals and provide extra support at the bends in the pipe since there will be a reaction force at changes in direction. I think that uncoated cable slides inside of the pipe better than vinyl or nylon coated cable. Use wire rope thimbles and wire rope clips to form eyes at the cable ends. Your cable won't ever come off of the sheave if you don't use any sheaves. You can apply a dry lubricant on the cable before stringing it through the pipe
