Good Evening
I am hoping that someone may be able to help i have to give a brief overview of Profibus nothing too deep but looking around it keeps referring to OSI layers and i am not quite sure what they mean.
Is it what the overall signal is made from, could it be described as certain parts of the signal is reserved for different functions similar to where certain bits are reserved for parity etc or am i getting the wrong end of the stick here

any explanation would be appreciated the simpler the better

regards

If you Google the ISO or OSI 7 Layer model, there are many excellent explanations available online.

Clarification: that'll get you explanations of the model. Not Profibus.
