I am experinecing some problem on the dispersion of silica in blends of EPDM/SBR, SBR/NBR and EPDM/EVA.
The products appeared to have different dispersions in teh different phases of elastomers. I tryed to check if a correlation like carbon black, based on structure and granulometry appeared on this filler, but it seens that no study in this respect are available.

The questions are:
We can use the same type of silica for every type of rubber? We do not have problem of phase dispersion like carbon black?
If not, do you know any paper related to this for rubber blends that you can recommend to me?

Thank you

Luis

Where are you based? If the atmosphere in your region has high humidity then you will always have a problem with silica dispersion (silica absorbs moisture from the atmosphere very quickly once the bag is opened. Have you thought about mixing the polymers with silica as separate masterbatches and then bringing them together for the final mix stage?
