hi,
i am trying to communicate from visual basic to a C7 635 (TP 170 + CPU 314...) i am using step 7 5.3, simaticnet 6.2.
Is there any body here that already done that? because i don't manage to do anything and i odn't know where to search...
i need some help ;-)

thanks

Olivier

I assume that you use MPI between 314, TP170 and your PC.

There is "Prodave", which is a software library from Siemens.
And there is "OPC" which is an open standard for setting up communication for many different protocols. Siemens has an "OPC server" for MPI, and so has "KepWare", "Merz" and several others.

In case you were wondering:
No, it is way too complicated to create ones own MPI driver under Visual Basic.

NB: If there is an Ethernet module (CP343-1) in the S7 rack. Then you CAN communicate with it fairly easy from VB.
