Hi,
I have a panel AOP from siemens and it's giving me a message: "AOP requires rebuild" and I can't access parameters. Any hint?
Thanks!

Hint: It's telling you of its own demise. The AOP is a smart (as opposed to dumb slave) interface, so it has a comm processor. If the comms are lost on the drive side, the AOP tells you it has lost comms with the drive. If the AOP's comms processor dies or otherwise can't even begin to communicate, it knows that so it defaults to that screen.

But before you panic, try unplugging the cables, spritz the connectors with some contact cleaner, and plug them back in. Sometimes its as simple as that.

Hint2: Check P2016 and P2019 are set to default in the MM4 drive it is controlling.
Hint3: Maybe the memory is full. You could free up memory by deleting one or more of the languages in the keypad. Select "Language", highlight the language you do not want (nor will ever want as this cannot be restored) and press Fn and UP arrow together. This will delete the language and a free up a few kb's.
Hint4: Has someone moved any of the DIP switches on the back of the AOP? If so, this really does screw up the fw in the AOP and can have dire effects. Haven't seen this message though.
Hint5: Do an AOP factory reset (this does not do a drive reset!).
Go to "SETUP" in the menu and scroll down. Display should show "AOP Reset". Press "P".
Select "ON" with UP arrow. Press "P".It will ask you "Delete param.sets?" If you are ok with this press "P" or if you want to keep the par.sets in the AOP press "Fn". Cross your fingers and hope this solves it.
Hint6: If you have thrown the AOP on the floor, jumped all over it and it has said "AOP requires rebuild" then I take my hat off to it, it really is a smart device... ;-)
Hint7: call Siemens and ask for another.

Hi,
I made a mistake in my post.
The fault in AOP panel doesn't even let me get into the menu, not only in the parameters...
It gives the message shortly: "No language block! Must load from PC" and then shows the message "AOP requires rebuild"
I tried changing the dip switch combination, and parameters 2016 and 2019 are in r52 (actual status word 1) but no success...
Maybe a problem in the internal memory?
