Siemens 0BA7

Checked forums, called support, emailed support, cannot get anyone to answer....Anyone using the new Siemens 0BA7 ethernet PLC?

0BA7 is just the end string denoting the version for the most part, meaning it is one version newer than an 0BA6.

0BA7 on what? an S7-300, -400, , -200, -1200?

Sorry, I figured anyone familiar enough with the thing to help would immediately recognize the part#. It's the new ethernet version of the LOGO pn 6ED1-052-1MD00-0BA7.

Looking for help with setting up the IP config....spoke with Siemens tech support and they didn't even have one yet! The newest 'logo comfortsoft' software interface is less than straightforward on config details.....or I'm missing something.

I think most Ethernet ready devices use DHCP, So if you read off the MAC address on the side of the LOGO and have a DHCP tool (similar to AB BootP DHCP), then you could set a static IP by the MAC address. I thought Siemens had this tool also.

Dont think you can use the bootp from AB since its another flavor of ethernet.

The Step 7 software can configure the Enternet port. In Simatic Manager click PLC -> Edit Ethernet Node and go from there.

After a lot of playing with it, I was able to get the Network input to accept it's slave status ONLY by sending the program to the PLC, reading it back, switching from ladder mode to logic mode, making the change, then switching back to ladder mode and sending it back.
The siemens support guy knew as little about it as I did and was just as baffled.
I do not have any additional equipment (step 7, simatic, etc) just the software, 2 PLC's (master and a slave) and a stupid switch (hub). Oh, and a crossover cable between the pc and hub.
I'm guessing there's a reason that the slave assignment to the network input may only be made in logic block mode in the software, but have no idea why.
