Everytime I start a new part, the default datum planes are hidden. Is there an option in the settings to change that?

First question, as always, what version of Solidworks & service pack are in use? Just in case there are some quirks to that particularrelease. Then my first shot at fixing it to your liking would be to see if your default drawing templates are set up the way you want. Open a drawing and go Tools, Options, System Options, File Locations and make note of where your document templates are. Then go edit them, making sure you turn on thedefault datum planes. Make sure you save them to the same places where they are and maintain the file types that they are, overwriting the existing ones. Then get out of Solidworks andbegin a completely new drawing session. Solidworks should pick up on the changes you made to the default templates.Hope this works for you!
