Dear Experts,

I Would like to from you all , about the design principles of short piles like 300mm dia and 2.0m depth. wherein i usually not facing problem in obtaining compression capacity but uplift and lateral.

I am not comfortable use friction capacity for uplift requirement as the length is very less. Similarly there for lateral capacity the available approach are more suitable for long piles where fixty depth is accounted.

Please share your views and ideas.

Do an internet search on "Broms Method" for the lateral analysis of short piles.
 
Watch out for soil saturation since it significantly reduces the unit weight that might be used to resist uplift. That also applies to submerged concrete.
 
Balageotech - In the bridge industry "tower pile bents" (piers) are sometimes used when pile embedment depth is short. Piling are battered in opposite directions to make the bent self-supporting and to provide lateral capacity along the length of the bridge. Of course a tower pile bent does not help much for uplift resistance. Here is an image that shows the concept, but is not technically exact:

If you only need 2 m long piles, there must be a suitable ground improvement solution.
 
If you need a large quantity of piles, perhaps soil treatment is more economical. At least in my area, using soil cement columns demonstrated to be cheaper than piles especially for such as short length.
