Hi

Can anybody give some idea on how to calculate forces genrated by short circuit ,We required to design Gantry for this forces. What are the parameters which governs this forces?

Can you suggestany Book or code or WebSite for this subject?

Hi,

You can find something about short cct forces calculation in CEI IEC 865 standard. IEC 865-1 gives the way of calculation but IEC 865-2 have example calculation which is very helpfull.

This question sounds familiar. Have you searched the site for this topic? I seem to recall a similar thread earlier this year. While it is quite common in substations, I have never designed a transmission structure for short circuit forces.

RUS Bulletin 1724E-300, available at discusses design of rigid bus for short-circuit forces. In short, the force is a function of the current squared divided by the distance between the phases.
