Shock valving vs travel

I am wondering about shock valving (specifically rebuildable Bilsteins) and travel. I understand thatshocks are speed sensitive devices. Does this mean say a shock with 5" travel to one with 10", with the same valving would act the same for a given shock velocity irrespective of displacement?

For the first 5" they will be the same but the next 5" is displacing more fluid as the shaft area increases or decreases internally.

Yes, the shock shaft or piston has no idea that its in a 5" tube or a 10" tube - unless (of course) it is in a position sensative shock - like the FOX Position Sensative series. JK
