Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchangers

Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding bolt torque calculation of Shell-TubeSheet-Channel joint.
I have a formula for channel cover and for floated head joints calculation.
We use it to find out the optimal ratio between the gasket stress and bolt stress.
The question is, what I should do with Pt (tube side pressure) and Ps(shell side pressure) for calculating gasket stress.
Should I suppose to add them? or use only the highest one?
Should I consider both gaskets area or just calculate it as a separate joints?
I've tried to find it through threads, but can't find it. Maybe I should create a new thread for this?

Nuas, yes you really should have creted a new thread, but...
I assume from your attachment you are working to Sec VIII, Div. 1. You should consult Parts UHX-4 and its references. Floating Heads are designed per UG-35.1 and its references.
If working to another Code you need to consult it.
Beyond that gasket manufacturers usually recommend that applied gasket stress fall within a certain range, you should insure that is the case.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
I assume from your attachment you are working to Sec VIII, Div. 1. You should consult Parts UHX-4 and its references. Floating Heads are designed per UG-35.1 and its references.
If working to another Code you need to consult it.
