what's the best way to model and flatten a conical tube using sheet metal, as in creating a 2 stroke exhaust system?
 
Wrap and upwrap curves will get you fairly close.

You could also use NX Sheet Metal to create a 'Lofted Flange', as seen in the attached NX 6.0 part file.
