I am looking to create a model of a simple piece of wire that actually is bent as it is inserted into an upper-level assembly. The part comes to me as a straight piece of wire, but will actually bend and conform to a pre-bent piece of tubing it is inserted into. Is there a way to model such a thing so that I may have a modeled part (.ipt)that reflects the bend, but has a "configuration" (sorry, a SWX term), or a flat pattern that I can use for a detail drawing (.idw)? I don't want two different models, since this is in reality only one part.
Please help. I can imagine this working in the sheet metal mode, but it is simply a cylinder and doesn't seem to take to INV's sheet metal functions. Air cooled, belt fed, gas operated machine gun firing from the open-bolt position
