shear wave velocity testing from surface

anyone have recommendations on getting testing equipment for shear wave velocity testing to determine IBC site class?

id like to get the equipment and do it myself. specifically from the surface not down the hole.

pros/cons?

Equipment is the easy part....just a big hammer, accelerometers and signal processing. It's the interpretation of data that takes effort! Check with Dr. Brady Cox at the University of Arkansas....he has done some studies comparing downhole vs. surface.

Ron, do you have any links for Prof. Cox's research papers (if any)? I Google him and only presentations for his work at the Haiti's EQ popped out...
