Hi All,

I found this forum a few months ago and wanted to thank everyone for the helpful tips. I'm a junior engineering doing mostly lateral engineering and this forum has helped answer a lot of questions I have.

I come across a lot of houses that have two wall segments on either side of an offset. As an example we see a lot of houses where the rear has two walls separated by an offset porch. On either side of the porch will be a wall with a window or two where I can use a perforated shear wall approach. Per SDPWS 4.3.5.1 these walls need to be considered as separate shear walls. Can I sum the capacity of multiple perforated shear walls per the requirements of SDPWS 4.3.3.4.1? On top of that can I mix and match shear wall types, i.e. FTAO, perforated, and segmented in one wall line provided I prove they have similar deflections?
